Similarly, the next day, as night fell, Prabhavati prepared to leave with her friends. When she waved goodbye to the parrot, it said the following:
«Go wherever you wish, beautiful-hipped one, if you know how to respond in a difficult situation, like Yashodevi, who found herself in an awkward situation.»
Then Prabhavati asked:
«Which Yashodevi? When and in what awkward situation did she find herself? And what solution did she find?»
The parrot replied:
«If I tell you, I will hinder your amorous adventures, and it will arouse your anger, which could lead to my destruction.»
She said:
«One should listen to both pleasant and unpleasant things from friends.»
Encouraged by these words, the parrot spoke:
«There is a city called Nandanam, Joy. The ruler there is also called Nandana, and his son is Raja-shekhara, Royal Crown.» The son was married to Shashi-Prabha, the Splendor of the Moon. This Shashi-Prabha was seen by someone named Vira, the Brave, the son of Dhana-sena, the Warrior of Wealth, who desired her so much that he fell ill with a fever. He neither ate nor drank. Questioned by his mother, whose name was Yasho-devi, the Luminary of Glory, he stammered the cause of his affliction.
This princess is difficult to win. How can he live in this world now? «That is the question.»
She said:
«Answer yourself.»
Parrot:
«If you do not leave today, I will answer.»
«Speak.»
So the parrot related:
«This Yasho-devi accustomed the female dog to her with food and affection, adorned her with ornaments, and brought her to Shashi-Prabha.» Finding herself alone, she sobbed and said to her:
“You, I, and she were sisters in a previous life.”
