This was done, and the raja was convinced of the minister’s words. Looking into the faces of the minister and the Brahmin’s daughter, the raja said, «What is this?» «Sir,» the minister said, «I have revealed to you what that Brahmin’s daughter allegorically described as the cause of the fishes’ laughter.»
As soon as this was said, the raja dismissed the assembly. The Brahmin’s daughter and Pushpahasa went home, unsure whether to worry or rejoice. «The raja found his wife’s lover hiding in a chest and killed him. He banished his wife from his land.»
The parrot said to Prabhavati:
«So you too, beautiful one, do not show undue stubbornness, for people shame those who are overly stubborn, like Vikramarka.»
After hearing this story, Prabhavati fell asleep.
